According to NRL Integrity Unit spokesperson Dana Harkwell, the banned substance—identified only as “Compound X-47”—is part of a new class of stimulants being monitored across professional sports. While not believed to be dangerous, it is strictly prohibited due to its potential to artificially increase reaction speed and endurance during play.
“Our testing protocols flagged an unusual biomarker, and further analysis confirmed the presence of Compound X-47,” Harkwell stated during an impromptu media briefing.
