The professional golfer is having the best year of his career so far, as evidenced by his victory at the Masters in April 2024 (his second win in three years). The 28-year-old also won the gold medal at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, and went viral for his emotional reaction to hearing the National Anthem on the podium. Scottie Scheffler’s wife is Meredith (Scudder) Scheffler. A native of Dallas, Texas, she attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a degree in communications. She currently works as the Director of Curating Opportunities at Behind Every Door, a nonprofit that provides programming for children and young adults in underdeveloped Dallas neighborhoods.

She opened up about her passion for her career in an interview with Essential Golf, saying, “I believe everyone has unique gifting. I love being part of an organization that is showing kids their giftings and giving them a chance to not only discover those gifts but see who God created them to be.”

How Scottie Scheffler and Meredith Scheffler Met

Scottie Scheffler and his wife Meredith met while they were freshmen in high school. The Dallas natives both attended Highland Park High School and allegedly had eyes for each other from the start—but it wasn’t until their senior year that they struck up a romance.

“At the beginning of high school I always thought he had a super humble ambiance about him, that he was just a really down-to-earth guy that doesn’t take himself too seriously,” Meredith told Golf Digest. “Even when he had amazing accomplishments, that wasn’t the most important thing about him.”

2013-2014: Scottie Scheffler and Meredith Scheffler Begin Dating

Although they met as freshmen at Highland Park High School, Scottie Scheffler and Meredith Scudder officially began dating during their senior year. Even then, after knowing him for four years, Meredith didn’t realize just how skilled her boyfriend was until she saw him in a golf tournament commercial.

“I won the U.S. Junior in 2013 and in 2014 I had the opportunity to play in the Byron Nelson as a high school student,” Scheffler said during a press interview at the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions. “I was at [Meredith’s] house one day, we were hanging out with her dad or something, and the commercial came on TV. And she was kind of looking around. She was like, Wait a minute, isn’t that next weekend? Isn’t that what you’re doing?'”

Scottie and Meredith continued dating after high school, even as their collegiate careers took them on separate paths. (He went to the University of Texas, while she studied at Texas A&M). After dating long-distance for four years, Scheffler proposed during a hiking trip at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Texas.

Scottie and Meredith Scheffler got married on December 4, 2020, at Arlington Hall in Dallas, Texas. The couple leaned into a wintry aesthetic for their wedding day, and even gave their guests red Santa hats to wear during the reception. Champions, Scottie Scheffler shared an adorable detail about his relationship with his wife. Speaking to reporters, the golfer revealed that she didn’t know much about the sport when they started dating—but after years of supporting him at various PGA tournaments, she turned into somewhat of an amateur pro.

“She’s learned fast,” he said. “She’s a student of the game. She’s come to learn it.” He also added that the game helped foster a deeper relationship with her in-laws. “She’s spent a lot of time around my parents who love golf,” he continued. “She’s learning.”

April 2024: Pregnant Meredith Scheffler Supports Husband Scottie From Afar as He Wins The Masters

Scottie Scheffler and his wife Meredith were the talk of the 2024 Masters. With their first baby due to arrive three weeks after the tournament date, Scheffler told the Golf Channel that he would leave Augusta at a moment’s notice if his wife went into labor. Luckily, he didn’t need to withdraw early—and he went on to win the tournament (marking his second Masters victory in three years).

In his highly-anticipated Butler Cabin interview at Augusta National, Scheffler opened up about balancing the tournament with his wife’s impending due date. “It’s a very special time for both of us. I can’t put into words what it means to win this tournament again. I really can’t put into words what it’s going to be like to be a father for the first time,” he said. “I’m looking forward to getting home and celebrating with Meredith. It’s been a long week here without her, but I’m just looking forward to getting home.”

May 2024: Meredith and Scottie Scheffler’s Son Is Born

Luckily, Scottie Scheffler didn’t have to leave the Masters early after all. He and his wife welcomed their son Bennett a few weeks after the tournament, in May 2024. The new dad opened up about the milestone to the Golf Channel, telling reporters, “It’s a pretty amazing feeling. It was fun times at the Scheffler home, for sure.”

The golfer also shared a photo of the newborn on Instagram, writing, “Welcome to the world little one. Your mom & dad love you so much.”

August 2024: Scottie Scheffler’s Wife and Son Celebrate His Gold Medal in Paris

Scottie Scheffler and his wife made the most of their time at the Paris Olympics. Before his golf competition, the couple took in the gymnastics tournament with their son, Bennett, and Scheffler was overcome with emotion watching Simone Biles and Suni Lee receive their all-around medals. Not long after, Scheffler received his own gold hardware after shooting -19 throughout the tournament while his wife and son proudly cheered from the sidelines.

“It’s been a long week. It’s been a challenging week. I played some great golf today, and I’m proud to be going home with a medal,” the athlete told reporters after his big win, before adding that his only goal was to have fun: “I’m just out here competing and trying to stay present, and working as hard as I can, and trying to get the most out of myself.”
